Sitting in work today busy as always I was wondering what to write about this month it took me back to thinking how far as a club we have come in the last few years ,the back backbone of the 1st team is pretty much the same as the team that was in the 3rd division and is made up of 95% of neyland people, not many local clubs can match that if any.
So what has made us step up from being a 3rd division team; to a top team in the 1st division? Having a good goalkeeper is the 1st thing and as I said before we are lucky to have Patrick Hannon in the team, but for years we had to do with one of the boys helping out and having a go in goal until the arrival of a superstar that was Gronk with a laugh as infectious as TB and pants that would rival Joseph's technicolor coat this man flew in to Neyland and helped the boys turn things around ,gone were the days of losing 5-4 we winning matches 4 or 5 nil and we won the title only losing one match on the way to the 2nd division.
Once into the next league we thought if we held our own for the first year we could then push the following season to go to the top level but Bossy and the boys had different ideas, the likes of Jiy, Jason Phillips , Jarred and Craig Power were good in the 3rd division but were outstanding in the 2nd division but also coming into the team that year was Gerard Grey and The Rock, outsiders you may say not for long, Rock enjoyed playing for the team that much he move to Neyland. So on we went through the season finishing runners up and 2nd division cup winners. What a night that was 2-0 down at half time to winning the cup in extra time.The night will live on with the lads who played in that match and the huge crowd who watched it. There are a few lads who don't play for us now but did a massive job for us in those divisions the original twins Skino and Twino, Steven Rhead, Gareth Hein, Colin Picton and Billy Miller, lads who will always have the thanks of the of the club and this chairman
Now for a star prize of a pint up the club from Ian Pugh - Who were there Neyland goal scorers in the second division cup final, and who got sent off?

Very upset on Saturday went up the club and saw the seconds playing football with a hedgehog, but didnt have the heart to shout at them as the hedgehog was winning 4-0.
