Hakin United scored two second-half goals to overcome gritty Neyland at the Observatory and marched to the top of the table.

The Vikings took full advantage of the fact that pace setters Pennar Robins and Monkton Swifts drew at Bush Camp, to leap-frog to the summit.

However, the Vikings didn’t have it all their own way as the visitors put up stiff resistance in the opening 45 minutes to keep it goalless.

In the 55th minute the Vikings opened their account with a very fortuitous opener. Scott Reynish’s miscued shot fell kindly for veteran Paul Jones to header home at the far stick.

Gary Dawes’ Vikings nerves settled and they began to get on top of Mark Edwards’ brave Nomads.

Super-substitute Ashley Bevan, marking his first game back from suspension, scored with a sublime 30-yard free kick in the 65th minute.

There were no more goals — but more importantly the Vikings have picked up their fourth straight victory on the trot, which puts them in prime spot.

Neyland bagged two first-half goals to secure victory over bottom-of-the-table Carew.

The Nomads opened the scoring around the 15th minute. Adam La Rosa struck a terrific edge-of-the-area half-volley, which flew past visiting keeper Sion Jenkins.

On the half-hour mark and the hosts doubled their lead as striker Simon Morgan scored with a simple tap-in.

The second-half became a little lacklustre as the glorious sunshine took its toll out of both teams.

Nomads’ manager Mark Edwards was delighted that his side picked-up their second win of the campaign.

And even at this very early stage of the season, it looks as though it’s going to be a very hard long one for the struggling visitors.

Notes / Match Report : Neyland traveled to Solva on Saturday and following their good win in mid-week were unlucky not to get a share of the points after playing almost an hour with 10 men. The Nomads took a 15th minute lead after some sloppy Solva defending allowed Joe Charlton to shoot past Craig Chandler.

Within a minute, Dan Williams crossed to David Price, saw his shot was parried by Patrick Hannon, and Williams made no mistake from the rebound to level matters.

The Nomads went ahead once again on the half hour mark with another Joe Charlton goal, but a disastrous five-minute spell saw them lose their lead and have Wayne Parry sent off. David Price then squared matters with a powerful header.

After such a promising start, Neyland’s woes continued as Williams provided another dangerous cross into a crowded penalty box and a goal mouth scramble saw an own goal dashing the visitors hopes and giving Solva the half-time lead.

Neyland's defence stayed resilient until the 75th minute, when Solva's Nathan Davies’ cross to the far post resulted in Dan Williams capping a brilliant performance by scoring with a well-timed ten-yard volley.
