FAW Welfare Program Welfare

Neyland AFC is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all involved in the clubs activities.

The Football Association of Wales established their Welfare Department in 2002 to promote and support the implementation of the FAW’s Welfare and Child Protection policy.

It is endorsed by the NSPCC.  It places a mandatory obligation on all junior football clubs in Wales to appoint and maintain a Club Welfare Officer.

In 2004 / 2005 season the FAW introduced a National Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) programme for all clubs with junior teams which is managed by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action’s Criminal Records Unit (CRU).

Club officials and players involved in junior football are vetted and checked to ensure the safety of all and approved members carry a Welfare Card which carries the holder’s picture, their FAW identification number and other information, such as, the qualifications they hold.
